Fan in Karnataka Chants "Long Live Pakistan" Amid Cricket Game, Subsequently Killed by Crowd
Mangaluru Crash: A local man's life was brutally ended in a horrific attack during a pick-up cricket game in the city's outskirts, as reported by multiple sources. Today, excruciating images of the aftermath continue to circulate, leaving numerous citizens distraught.
According to eye-witnesses, tensions escalated quickly after the man, whose identity remains undisclosed, shouted an inflammatory phrase during the game. Following this, a mob retaliated violently, resulting in the man's tragic death.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has referred to the incident as a "mob lynching." Despite not yet receiving the official report, the Minister assures that the case will be given due consideration.
The unfortunate event occurred near the Bhatra Kallurti temple in Kudupu village in the afternoon of April 27. Early reports suggest the man was assaulted with sticks, incurring several severe injuries that eventually led to cardiac arrest and shock.
Upon arriving at the hospital, medical professionals confirmed that the man had sustained multiple blunt force injuries, ultimately resulting in his untimely demise.
Addressing a press conference, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal detailed the investigation's progress. "At first, we treated this as an unnatural death case and initiated our investigation following discovery of the body near the temple grounds," he said. However, subsequent examination revealed that the death was inflicted by dozens of bludgeoning blows and the man's cries for help were sorely unanswered.
A case has been filed under Section 103(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which pertains to murder by multiple perpetrators. Fifteen suspects have been arrested, and the police are currently on the hunt for another ten individuals linked to the crime.
"The charged individual, Sachin, a resident of Kudupu, is already in our custody," Agarwal stated. He explains that this case falls under an especially stern provision of the BNS, one that could potentially lead to life imprisonment or even capital punishment if the evidence stacks up.
"Mangaluru has always been a city of harmony, and this kind of hateful violence has no place here," Agarwal emphatically expressed.
The home minister reiterated Agarwal's sentiment, "We will strictly punish those responsible for this mob lynching. The fact that this man allegedly shouted 'Pakistan Zindabad' —regardless of the truth behind this claim—should not have deemed him worthy of such a horrific end. Maintaining a peaceful society is of paramount importance to us all."
Local authorities and law enforcement are working tirelessly to gather evidence and ensure justice is served in this heinous crime. The community is urged to maintain calm, seek accurate information, and condemn violent acts against fellow citizens.
