Fan builds 4.4-meter Horus Lupercal statue with 1,752 3D-printed parts

One fan's obsession with Warhammer 40K led to a garage-consuming masterpiece. The towering tribute to Horus Lupercal redefines what fan art can achieve.

The image shows a statue of a man in armor on top of a building, with a clear blue sky in the background. The man is wearing a full suit of armor, complete with a helmet, breastplate, and gauntlets. He is holding a sword in his right hand and a shield in his left. His face is stern and determined, and his eyes are focused on something in the distance.

His Name Marks the Greatest Tragedy in Human History: Horus Lupercal. The Emperor's Son Nearly Doomed the Entire Warhammer 40,000 Universe. Now, a Fan Has Built a Statue So Massive It Won't Fit in Any Home.

This is the statue: Back in December 2025, we reported that user "HammerDoris"—also known as "The Imperial Saint"—was constructing a life-sized statue of Horus Lupercal.

Doris is well-known in the community for her elaborate cosplay projects, which you can find on Instagram.

At the time, only the legs were finished. Now, the statue stands nearly complete—on those very legs. The only missing piece is the iconic claw on the traitor's right hand. In a Reddit thread, Doris shared some key details about the project:

  • From base to highest point, the statue measures 4.4 meters tall—3.6 meters to the top of the head alone. That checks out, as Horus in his armor was said to stand around 3.5 meters tall.
  • The entire project has taken five months so far, though she admits she forgot the claw. Since this is a hobby project, Doris isn't rushing—she's taking her time.
  • A staggering 1,752 individual parts have been assembled so far. The legs alone required 594 pieces.

How did she pull it off? Doris explains that she used 20 3D printers running simultaneously to produce the components. Some adjustments were necessary—like trimming part of the leg armor to ensure the arms would fit properly.

The arms and shoulder plates are held in place with rods. In another Reddit video, she demonstrates the assembly process, which involved a forklift and ratchet straps (though the straps have since been removed). Now, Horus can stand on his own.

Storage, however, is another story. Due to its sheer size, the disassembled statue fills her garage completely, blocking everything else. As for the cost? Doris says she'll reveal that in a future post.

Horus Lupercal: One of Warhammer 40,000's Most Pivotal Figures

Commenters have noted that the statue perfectly captures the absurd scale of Warhammer 40,000—especially the towering height of Space Marines compared to ordinary humans.

Space Marines are genetically engineered supersoldiers, already far larger than baseline humans. Primarchs—the direct genetic sons of the God-Emperor and the progenitors of the Space Marine Legions—are even more massive.

One user pointed out that a statue this size wouldn't even fit inside a normal house—but then again, Horus himself was never meant to be confined by such limitations.

The Archetypal Traitor

Horus Lupercal is infamous as the ultimate betrayer. He challenged the Emperor's rule, sparking the Horus Heresy, a galaxy-spanning civil war in which half the Space Marine Legions fell to Chaos.

The conflict nearly destroyed Holy Terra itself, and Horus came within a whisker of killing the Emperor. Ever since, the Master of Mankind has been bound to the Golden Throne, the life-sustaining device that keeps him barely alive.

Yet for all his treachery, Horus wasn't the first heretic. In truth, one man in the Warhammer 40,000 universe bears even greater responsibility for the Chaos that has plagued—and continues to plague—the galaxy. He is the reason the two greatest traitors ever turned to darkness.
