Famous personalities Billie Eilish and Cillian Murphy, along with numerous other celebrities, advocate for a truce in the Gaza conflict prior to a charity concert in London.
In a show of solidarity and activism, a star-studded benefit concert named "Together For Palestine" has been announced for Wednesday evening in London. The event, which aims to raise funds for Palestinian-led organizations at the forefront of the current crisis, features celebrities such as Cillian Murphy, Billie Eilish, Joaquin Phoenix, Brian Cox, Stephen John Coogan, and many more.
The video released for the concert features these celebrities speaking out about the situation in Palestine. Nan Goldin, an American photographer and activist, says in the video, "It's been the artist's role in society to speak out, to risk speaking truth to power." Stephen John Coogan urges support for Palestine and calls for a ceasefire in the current conflict. Javier Bardem showed his support for Gaza at the Emmy Awards by wearing a keffiyeh, a traditional Palestinian scarf, and denouncing the conflict.
In addition to the London concert, the "Together For Palestine" event is also scheduled to take place on September 28, 2025, in Berlin as part of the "From Berlin with Love to Gaza" fundraiser event. This event includes healing arts workshops, Palestinian dance and music, and calls for political action to support Gaza and Palestine.
Hannah Einbinder called for "Free Palestine" during her Emmy Awards speech. Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas previously showed their support for Palestine by wearing matching lapel pins calling for a ceasefire at the Oscars. Brian Cox, in the video for the concert, says, "We have to tell the truth on behalf of the people of Palestine."
The groups that the fundraiser is supporting include the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF), the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, and Taawon, which runs orphan care programs in Gaza. Israel is currently ramping up its offensive in Gaza, with Israeli tanks stationed on the edge of Gaza City ahead of a potential ground operation. Israel announced an expanded ground assault on Gaza City to "strike terror infrastructure" and secure "the release of hostages and the defeat of Hamas," according to Defense Minister Israel Katz.
In recent days, hundreds of artists have joined Artists4Ceasefire, a campaign that published a letter urging the US Congress and then-President Joe Biden to call for an immediate ceasefire. The artists' call for peace and support for Palestine serves as a reminder of the power of art and celebrity in raising awareness and advocating for change.
