Famous goalkeeper, Buffon, announces his departure from the sport

In a poignant announcement made on his social media platforms, the renowned Italian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, has declared the end of his illustrious football career at the age of 45.

Buffon, a titan of the game, spent most of his career with Juventus in Turin, where he won 10 Serie A titles, 6 Italian Super Cups, and 5 Italian Cups. His achievements with the Bianconeri include reaching the Champions League final three times and being a part of the team that won the World Cup with the Italian national team in 2006.

With the national team, Buffon also appeared as a finalist at Euro 2012. He retires as the holder of numerous records, including most appearances for the Italian national team (176) and the record for most Serie A appearances (657).

Despite several lucrative offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Buffon has chosen not to start the new season as a professional player. Instead, media reports suggest that he will take up one of the administrative positions in the Italian national team.

The post of delegation head, previously held by Gianluca Vialli who passed away earlier this year, is expected to be taken over by Buffon. This role will see him leading the Italian national team's delegation, a fitting next chapter for a player who has been a cornerstone of the team for so long.

Gianfranco Multineddu is set to take over the position of delegation leader for the Italian national team.

Buffon's retirement marks the end of an era in football. His contributions to the game, both on and off the pitch, will undoubtedly be felt for years to come. As he steps away from the game, we celebrate his incredible career and the countless memories he has given us.

Here's to the great Gianluigi Buffon, a true legend of the game.
