Fam-Time Fun Run: The Danish Royals' Annual Spaghetti Extravaganza
- Casual vibes only
Get your running shoes ready because the Danish royals are at it again! On a lively Whitsun Monday, the family took to Instagram to share snaps and videos from the "Royal Run 2025." With over 1.1 million followers, the Danish palace posted a stream of content from not one, but multiple cities.
From Boats to Bolognese
King Frederik X (57) started the day off bright and early in the picturesque city of Ribe, giving us a selfie from a boat - because why not?! His down-to-earth Queen Mary (53), however, had a harder time leaving behind her family dogs in Korsør. The palace shared a playful shot of her bent-kneed before the unsuspecting pups.
Their eldest, Crown Prince Christian (19), bolted a 5km run in the city of Viborg. No worries, the palace had a snap of him in the car on his way to the action.
Alongside the royals, over 97,500 participants from various Danish cities - including Horsens and the bustling capital, Copenhagen - joined in on the festivities. The royals weren't shy about showing their love, reciprocating with a picture showcasing their children, Princess Isabella (18), Prince Vincent (14), and his twin sister, Princess Josephine, all decked out in sports gear and ready to run.
The Royal Post-Run Tradition
What's a family fun run without a family meal? This tradition dates back a while for the Danish royals, who have made it public that they indulge in a hearty bowl of Spaghetti Bolognese after their annual run. King Frederik and Queen Mary have explained their preference: “Traditionally, dinner with us is spaghetti Bolognese after the Royal Run”[1][2]. So there you have it, folks! After a day of sportsmanship and camaraderie, the royals gather around their table for a comforting family dinner - the perfect way to end their Royal Run extravaganza!

- I'm not going to be able to do this, exclaimed Queen Mary as she hesitated to leave her family dogs behind for the Royal Run 2025 in Korsør.
- Although the Danish royals wine down their annual fun run with a hearty bowl of Spaghetti Bolognese, it seems King Frederik X had a different plan for his pre-run meal, opting for a selfie on a boat in the picturesque city of Ribe instead of his traditional running shoes and spaghetti dinner.
