Lee Shau-kee's Peaceful Departure
By 9 am on a chilly Monday, Peter Lee Ka-kit, the eldest scion, along with his brother Martin Lee Ka-shing, his sister-in-law Cathy Chui Lee, and their sibling duo Liza Lee Pui-ling and Susanna Lee Pui-yee, gathered at the somber entrance of the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point. The family photograph, a poignant memento, was hastily taken before the solemn mourners marched in.
The scene grew more solemn as Margaret Lee Pui-man, the firstborn, and her husband, Li Ning, took their position, joining an array of sad faces.
"It wasn't easy bidding farewell to our old man, not for us or any of our relatives," Martin Lee shared, his voice trembling as he faced the eager press corps. "He had almost reached the century mark, after all."
Martin, along with his brother, shared that their father breathed his last, surrounded lovingly by his family, at around 12.50 pm. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to the residents who paid tribute to their venerable patriarch.
