A Long-Standing Royal Decree: Prince George's Change in Travel Arrangements

Family Aviation Travel Restrictions: Prince George Now Prohibited From Flying With Relatives.

Prince George, the elder son of Prince William and Princess Kate, is the second in line for the British throne. As he turns 12 in July, a decades-old rule within the royal family will come into effect. However, it's important to clarify that this rule doesn't explicitly prohibit Prince George from traveling with his family, but it does suggest that he ought to travel separately from his immediate family members, particularly his father, Prince William, to minimize risk and secure the line of succession.

This tradition has deep roots in the British monarchy and was designed to avoid the unwanted event of two future monarchs being affected by the same calamity - say, a plane crash. According to reports from RTL, starting from George's 12th birthday on July 22nd, he will need to travel independently, unless King Charles III grants an exception.

In the early '90s, a similar situation arose when Prince William turned 12. At that time, his father, Prince Charles, was the one on the throne, and the rule was applied. Former royal pilot Graham Laurie recalled this moment in the "Hello" magazine podcast. Just as William required a separate plane when he turned 12, George might face similar travel arrangements.

This new travel protocol will undeniably bring about a shift for the family's travel plans, making simple journeys a thing of the past. Unless King Charles allows for an exception - which seems unlikely, according to the "Mirror" - the family will need to adjust to this change. In the event of a crash, the fate of the monarchy would remain uncertain.

For the young heir apparent, this adjustment serves as yet another step in preparing for his future reign as king. Lately, the energetic 11-year-old has taken on increased royal duties.

Interestingly, a similar practice is followed in the US. President Donald Trump and his vice president, J.D. Vance, always travel in separate aircraft - Air Force One and Air Force Two - to minimize the risk of a leaderless nation should an accident occur.

I'm not going to be able to do this, as the tradition of Prince George traveling separately from his immediate family members, particularly Prince William, is set to be enforced starting from his 12th birthday. This practice, similar to that followed by President Donald Trump and his vice president, J.D. Vance, aims to minimize risk and secure the line of succession, much like King Charles III will need to do for the British monarchy.
