Marc Shaiman, an award-winning composer and lyricist, is set to share his extraordinary journey with the world in his upcoming memoir, "Never Mind the Happy: Showbiz Stories From a Sore Winner." The memoir, published by Regalo Press, will be released on Jan 27, 2026.

Gretchen Young, publisher of Regalo Press, expresses her excitement about publishing Shaiman's memoir, describing it as moving, hilarious, and everything in between. Young promises readers will meet Shaiman on the "propulsive pages" of his memoir, where they will learn about the "startling successes (and yes, a few dire disappointments)" of his career.

Shaiman, a seven-time Academy Awards nominee, has won a Tony Award, two Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, and has been a seven-time Academy Awards nominee. His memoir will cover his work in movies, television, and on Broadway, including his teenage years in community theater, his collaboration with Bette Midler in the '70s, surviving the AIDS crisis of the '80s, his award-winning film music career in the Hollywood of the '90s, and his career on Broadway from 2000 on.

Shaiman describes himself as a "Tony, two-time Grammy, two-time Emmy Award winner and a seven-time Academy Awards loser." He says his memoir is to document his career before he forgets what he's done or before others forget. The publisher of his memoir, Hachette Books, shares this sentiment, expressing their pride in publishing such an honest and engaging account of a remarkable career.

In addition to the memoir's release, Regalo Press will support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS during its rollout. This partnership reflects Shaiman's commitment to giving back to the arts community and supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS.

So, mark your calendars for Jan 27, 2026, and get ready to immerse yourself in the life and career of one of the most talented composers and lyricists in the industry. "Never Mind the Happy: Showbiz Stories From a Sore Winner" promises to be an unforgettable read.
