Hittin' the Big Screen Again: "The School of Magical Creatures" Returns for Round Four!

Get ready, folks! The enchanting movie series that's cast a spell on over 8.5 million viewers is making a comeback. "The School of Magical Creatures," with its beloved Winterstein School and magical menagerie, is gearing up for its fourth installment. The announcement was made by Leonine Studios on Monday, revealing that the new film will enchant German cinemas on September 25, 2025.

The previous films were blockbusters, taking the top spot as the most successful German films of their respective years (2021, 2022, and 2024). They even bagged the German Film Award for the most visited film and the "Golden Screen" award for over three million cinema visits.

A New Adventure Threatens the Magic

"The School of Magical Creatures 4" finds Miriam (Tomomi Themann) moving in with her friend Ida (Emilia Maier, 18) and attending Winterstein School for a few months. Unaware of the magical community's hidden world, Miriam soon encounters the energetic Koboldmaki Fitzgeraldo (voiced by Daniel Zillmann, 44) on her first day. Meanwhile, Ida discovers that Winterstein School is in jeopardy of closure.

The upcoming school challenge might be the last hope for saving the magical community. The situation gets dicey when Miriam's old school, led by her former classmate Torben (Philip Müller), enters the competition. Miriam finds herself torn between her loyalties and the secrets of the magical world.

Familiar Faces and New Directors

For the sequel, Bernhard Jasper (52), who previously worked as a cinematographer on the earlier films, and Maggie Peren (50) take the director's helm. The movie is based on the beloved book series of the same name by Margit Auer (58), which has sold over ten million copies in the German-speaking region and has been translated into 26 languages.

Emilia Maier, Loris Sichrovsky, Emilia Pieske, Luis Vorbach, and Leonard Conrads are set to reprise their main roles. Tomomi Themann steps in as Miriam, while Philip Müller joins the cast as Torben. Familiar faces among the adult cast include Christina Große, Justus von Dohnányi, Heiko Pinkowski, Meltem Kaptan, and Milan Peschel.

Two New Magic Beings Join the Cast

Voice actors Felix Kramer as the crocodile Rick, Ralf Schmitz as the cat Karajan, and Axel Stein as the penguin Juri are back for more magic. But this time around, two new mystical creatures are joining the ensemble: singer Annett Louisan voices the owl Muriel, and Daniel Zillmann lends his voice to the Koboldmaki Fitzgeraldo.

Berlin-based cinematographer Bernhard Jasper and Maggie Peren, both veterans of the earlier films in the series, will direct the movie, which is based on Margit Auer's beloved book series that has won both the German Film Award and the "Golden Screen" award for over three million cinema visits.

Following the success of the previous films, animers are busy designing two new mystical creatures: singer Annett Louisan voices the owl Muriel and Daniel Zillmann lends his voice to the Koboldmaki Fitzgeraldo.
