Faker's solo queue match erupts after pro support player abandons team
A recent solo queue match involving League of Legends legend Faker took an unexpected turn when a professional support player behaved poorly in-game. The incident, which unfolded during a livestream, saw Feather—a Chinese pro player for ThunderTalk Gaming—clashing with Faker before the team surrendered early.
The trouble began when Feather, playing Rakan, suggested surrendering at just 15 minutes. By that point, Faker had already died four times, partly due to Feather's refusal to assist in fights. Instead of supporting his teammate, the pro player ignored Faker's calls for help and even abandoned his role to farm alone in the top lane.
Faker, frustrated by the lack of cooperation, reported Feather for misconduct during the game. The match ended in surrender at the 15-minute mark, a rare outcome in professional-level play.
After the incident, Feather took to Weibo to issue a public apology. He admitted his behaviour had harmed the league's reputation and disappointed fans. His team, ThunderTalk Gaming, responded swiftly by fining him and docking a month's salary for violating conduct rules.
Meanwhile, Riot Games continues testing a new voice chat system on the League of Legends test server, though no direct link has been made to this incident.
Feather's actions led to immediate consequences, including financial penalties and a formal apology. The incident highlights ongoing challenges in player behaviour, even among professionals. No further statements have been released by the Chinese esports community or Riot Games regarding broader changes in response.
