"Home Alone 3" Fake Trailer Sparks Frenzy Among Fans

With over 2.2 million views already, a so-called "Home Alone 3 - Kevin's Revenge" trailer is causing quite a stir. Does this mean a long-overdue third installment of the Kevin series featuring Macaulay Culkin (43)? Sadly, not quite.

The clip in question is actually a clever, albeit misleading, parody. Its title makes this abundantly clear, and the creators wisely assembled the teaser using footage from various sources.

Keep an eye out for scenes from the original "Kevin - Home Alone" from 1990, as well as a Google Home commercial from 2018, featuring the adult Kevin McCallister effortlessly warding off burglars with the help of the smart home technology. Mix that with a few sequences from "American Horror Story," and you've got yourself a viral sensation.

The trailer suggests a plot where Harry (Joe Pesci, 80) and Marv (Daniel Stern, 66)— the infamous “wet bandits” from "Home Alone" - are out for revenge on Kevin after serving 30 years in prison. Kevin turns the tables by breaking into their house, according to reports, armed with weapons, explosives, and potentially even tarantulas.

Fake voice-over recordings add a new layer of meaning to the scenes, taken out of context. For instance, the adult Kevin has a heartfelt conversation with his mother about being left alone and having to defend their home at just eight years old, a situation remarkably similar to the original film.

Fans are ecstatic over the well-edited fake trailer and have even called for it to be made into an actual film. As it turns out, there actually was a third installment in the "Home Alone" series in 1997. However, Macaulay Culkin was not involved, and the film starred Alex D. Linz instead.

The franchise has continued to evolve with a new cast in the following films and reboots. For instance, Devin Ratray (46) reappeared as the adult Buzz McCallister in "Not home alone again" on Disney+, which saw a few clips being incorporated into the aforementioned iconic trailer.

Alas, as much as we'd love for Macaulay Culkin to return to the saga, it seems the "Home Alone" series has moved on without him. Still, we can always hold out hope for an unexpected twist in the future.

Enrichment Data: The original "Home Alone 3" (1997) featured Alex D. Linz instead of Macaulay Culkin, who had decided to leave the franchise after the second film. There have been discussions and pitches about potential new installments in the franchise, but currently, there are no plans for a new movie with Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister.
