Fairyhouse Racecourse experiences a management shift as John Sheridan takes over from Peter Roe as its new general manager.

John Sheridan has been appointed as the new General Manager at Fairyhouse, a significant move for the historic racecourse in County Meath, Ireland.

Sheridan, a native of Kildare, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He began his career as an amateur rider, competing in a bumper at Fairyhouse in 2006. After his time on the track, Sheridan ventured into the world of marketing and advertising.

He worked with Vodafone Ireland as a Marketing Manager, and later served as commercial lead for the consumer prepay division. Sheridan also worked with Ladbrokes International's Betdaq, where he was involved in advertising, promotions, and sponsorships. One of his notable achievements at Betdaq was managing the sponsorship of the Betdaq Champion Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival.

Following his success with Betdaq, Sheridan moved on to Showjumping Ireland, where he served as Marketing Manager for five years.

Paul Dermody, the chief executive of Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) racecourses, has expressed delight at Sheridan's appointment. Dermody believes that Sheridan's extensive experience in marketing and his passion for horse racing make him an ideal fit for the role.

In his new position, Sheridan will be responsible for leading Fairyhouse's engagement with the local community, commercial partners, tenants, and industry stakeholders. His role will involve driving Fairyhouse forward in a collaborative and sustainable manner.

The appointment of John Sheridan comes at an exciting time for the Fairyhouse racecourse team. Peter Roe, who stepped down as general manager of Fairyhouse after 15 years, has handed over the reins to a new leader who is eager to make a positive impact on the racecourse.

Roe, on the other hand, has taken up the role of head of racing for the four courses owned by Horse Racing Ireland (HRI). We wish both John Sheridan and Peter Roe the best of luck in their new roles.

This change in leadership at Fairyhouse is a testament to the vibrant and evolving world of horse racing in Ireland. As Sheridan takes the helm, we look forward to seeing the exciting developments that lie ahead for Fairyhouse and the wider horse racing industry.
