Fahndrich leads 14-member Swiss team

Switzerland is counting on Nadine Fähndrich to deliver a standout performance at this year’s Tour de Ski. The 28-year-old leads a 14-strong Swiss team and is the country’s best hope for a podium finish. Her recent form and past success make her a key name to watch as the competition begins in Italy.

Fähndrich has built a reputation as a sprint specialist, with all five of her World Cup wins coming in this discipline. Her latest result—a third-place finish in Davos—shows she is in strong form ahead of the Tour. Last year, she also claimed victory in the classic sprint during the fifth stage of the event.

The 2023 Tour de Ski will take place entirely in Italy, featuring six stages across Dobbiaco and Val di Fiemme. Fähndrich will target the sprint races on December 28 in Toblach and January 3 in Val di Fiemme. Her consistency and experience make her a serious contender for the podium in both events. Swiss officials have placed their confidence in Fähndrich, who won the overall Tour de Ski title in 2022. This time, she aims to repeat her success, particularly in the sprints where she excels. The team’s hopes rest heavily on her shoulders as the competition gets underway.

Fähndrich’s track record and recent performances set high expectations for Switzerland. The sprint races in Toblach and Val di Fiemme will be critical tests of her form. A strong showing could see her challenge for the top spots once again.
