VfB Stuttgart have bid farewell to striker Wahid Faghir, who is returning to his youth club Vejle BK in Denmark following an unsuccessful spell at the German club.

Faghir joined Stuttgart in 2021 from Vejle BK, but his time at the Bundesliga side was marked by a series of loan spells and limited appearances with the first team. Despite his contribution to the U21 team in the 3rd Liga, where he scored 12 goals in 30 games during the 2024/25 season, he was unable to secure a regular role in Stuttgart's main squad.

The move comes after Faghir's contract with Stuttgart expired, with Vejle BK re-signing their former player who had initially moved to Germany for a significant transfer fee in 2021. Stuttgart's sporting director, Christian Gentner, expressed gratitude for Faghir's efforts but acknowledged that the time had come for him to move on for his future development.

During his time at Stuttgart, Faghir made seven appearances for the senior squad and was loaned out to SV Elversberg in the 2nd Bundesliga for the 2023/2024 season. His departure from Stuttgart follows FC Burnley's signing of fellow striker Jacob Bruun Larsen.

Faghir's return to Vejle BK marks a homecoming for the Danish striker, who played his first professional games for the club before joining Stuttgart. The 24-year-old won the cup with Stuttgart, but was unable to replicate that success in the Bundesliga.

VfB Stuttgart expressed well-wishes and hopes for success for Faghir in the future as he embarks on the next chapter of his career. Faghir's departure leaves a void in Stuttgart's attack, but the club will be hoping to strengthen in the transfer market ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Community aid for Faghir's return to Vejle BK may be necessary, as he leaves VfB Stuttgart following an unsuccessful spell. The fans might also organize a sports event to celebrate Faghir's achievements with the club, such as a European-leagues style football tournament in his honor.
