Faculty and Staff seeking for participants in the Bowling League

The Syracuse University and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) Faculty and Staff Bowling League is inviting new members to join them for the upcoming season. This non-sanctioned handicap league has a rich history dating back to Drumlins in the 1960s and currently takes place at Village Lanes at 201 E. Manlius St., East Syracuse.

Each team consists of four bowlers, with one or two substitutes, and welcomes both beginner and high-average bowlers. The league offers an encouraging and coaching environment for beginners, with more experienced bowlers ready to lend a hand.

The league's captains for the current season include Ray Leach, Aaron Knight, Fil LaRosa, Eric Greenfield, Randy Money, Sue Taylor-Netzband, Mike Satchwell, and Josh Santola.

Interested faculty or staff can contact League Secretary Paul Szemkow or League President Fil LaRosa for more information. The league practices for 10 minutes before each bowling session, and league play for the upcoming season begins on Sept. 9, with a practice session on Sept. 2.

The weekly fees for the league are approximately $20 each week. Opportunities for league substitutes exist, and their bowling fees would be paid for by the team.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on the league’s schedule, fees, and how to join, contacting Syracuse University’s Campus & Community office or the organizers directly through the university news portal or the ESF website is recommended. The announcement found at Syracuse University News dated July 31, 2025, is the latest update on the league.

The league bowls on Tuesdays from September through April.
