Faculty and Staff Searching for Bowlers to Join their Bowling League
Syracuse University and SUNY ESF Faculty and Staff Bowling League Open for All
The Syracuse University and SUNY ESF Faculty and Staff Bowling League is a fun, non-sanctioned handicap league that welcomes bowlers of all skill levels. This inclusive league, with a long-standing tradition dating back to the 1960s at Drumlins, offers an excellent opportunity for fellowship and recreation among university employees.
The league currently takes place at Village Lanes, located at 201 E. Manlius St., East Syracuse. Bowling sessions occur every Tuesday from September through April, starting at 5:10 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. This year, the league kicks off on September 9, with a practice session scheduled for September 2.
Whether you're a beginner or a high-average bowler, you're welcome to join. The league encourages participation regardless of bowling experience, making it an ideal setting for socializing and friendly competition.
Interested faculty or staff can contact League Secretary Paul Szemkow or League President Fil LaRosa for more information. Each team in the league consists of four bowlers, with one or two substitutes. Opportunities for league substitutes exist, with their bowling fees being paid for by the team.
Weekly fees for the league are approximately $20 per week. To join or get schedule details, it's advisable to connect with university sports or recreation departments or look for faculty/staff announcements, as the league is ongoing and open to all faculty and staff from these institutions.
This year's league captains include Ray Leach, Aaron Knight, Fil LaRosa, Eric Greenfield, Randy Money, Sue Taylor-Netzband, Mike Satchwell, and Josh Santola. The league is for individuals currently employed by SUNY ESF or the University.
Practice bowling is 10 minutes before the league starts. So, grab your bowling shoes and get ready to roll!
