Facing mounting injuries, what potential remedies for PSG?

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has expressed a desire to give opportunities to their 23-player squad, with substitutes ready to fill in for injured players. The decision-makers at the club are satisfied with their recruitments during the transfer market, having brought in Chevalier, Zabarnyi, and Marin.

The injuries sustained by PSG players are currently measured in days or weeks, not months. However, the club has identified several injured players in the current season, including Ousmane Dembélé and João Neves, who suffered a left calf injury. The exact number of injured players is not detailed, but at least two players are confirmed to be sidelined.

PSG has decided to maintain a squad similar to the previous year, with 23 players, to avoid problems in the locker room. The club did not make any final recruits during the summer transfer market, preferring to wait until January.

The strength of PSG lies in its ability to interchange players without affecting collective performance. Luis Enrique insists on the versatility of his troops and has warned them of the possibility of aligning them in positions that are not natural to them.

Warren Zaire-Emery, Lee Kang-in, Gonçalo Ramos, Mayulu, and Ibrahim Mbaye are second-string players from last season's second half who can continue to facilitate the transition. These players, along with those from the under-19 and under-23 youth teams, can be called upon when needed. However, some youth team players may not always be available due to international commitments.

PSG had been open to the recruitment of an offensive or defensive player during the summer transfer market. Discussions were held, with certain conditions under consideration, indicating that a recruitment was conceivable. However, no final decisions were made.

Coach Alexandre Dellal, formerly a fitness coach for OL, Nice, and Algeria, argues that a muscle injury creates a point of weakness and will not replace a real rest period. This is a concern for PSG, who have expressed a verbalized concern about potential injuries for several players, including Dembélé, Neves, Senny Mayulu, Désiré Doué, Fabian Ruiz, Lucas Beraldo, Lee Kang-in, and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.

It's worth noting that PSG has the right to recruit a player playing in L1 or sign elements without a contract. However, the club cannot bring in a medical joker, only possible in case of an injury of more than three months or a "serious injury" of a goalkeeper.

The upcoming international break poses a problem for PSG, as most of their players will be in selection. This could potentially impact their recovery and readiness for upcoming matches. Despite this, the club appears to be managing well with the resources at hand.
