Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix Qualifying: Norris Takes Pole Position

In a thrilling qualifying session at the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix, McLaren's Lando Norris secured his fourth pole position of the season. Norris set a blistering lap of 1:41.010 in Q1, six tenths clear of Charles Leclerc in second place.

Leclerc, driving for Ferrari, improved his position in the final run, moving ahead of Max Verstappen to take third place. Verstappen, winner of the Sprint, posted the fourth-fastest time in Q3 with a lap of 1:41.078.

Oscar Piastri, Norris' team-mate, put in a strong performance, coming in second place in Q2, less than a tenth of a second behind Norris. Alexander Albon claimed an excellent fifth position in the final session, while George Russell edged his way into sixth position, just over two hundredths of a second ahead of Yuki Tsunoda.

In Q2, Piastri set the fastest lap of 1:40.626, with Norris close behind in second place. Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman, Haas drivers, were eliminated in Q2 in 11th and 12th place respectively. Carlos Sainz, Pierre Gasly, and Nico Hülkenberg also failed to advance.

Lewis Hamilton, driving for Ferrari, had a disappointing qualifying session, being eliminated from Q1 and slumping to 16th position. Hamilton's qualifying was marred by a failure to advance, but no connection to Ferrari was reported in the incident.

Yuki Tsunoda qualified for Q3 in fifth place, but could only manage seventh in the final session. Isack Hadjar qualified in eighth position, while Liam Lawson was ninth. Gabriel Bortoleto qualified in tenth position for the race.

Verstappen complained about struggling for grip during the session, but will no doubt be hoping for a strong performance in tomorrow's race. The Belgian Grand Prix promises to be an exciting race, with Norris starting from pole position and Leclerc and Verstappen close behind.
