F1 2025 Spanish Grand Prix Thursday Media Interview Transcript (Reworded)
Carlos, what's the deal with this new technical directive for the Barcelona Grand Prix? How do you think it'll affect Williams and the field in general?
Carlos SAINZ (Williams): Man, let me tell ya, there's been a lot of chatter about this new tech directive. I reckon it ain't gonna mess with teams and people too much. It's just front wings, ain't it? Gotta be a bit stiffer now, won't flex like before. I wouldn't expect more than one-tenth swing up or down for each team, depending on how much you were flexing or not.
But yeah, our cars might be a bit more challenging to balance. But hey, we got three practice sessions to figure it out and fine-tune things. The teams were running endless laps with a new wing in the simulator, so even if it's a challenge, we're well-prepared to adapt.
As for me, I ain't overly concerned. It's just another day at the office, man. I'm still pumped about my home race and really looking forward to putting on a show for the Spanish crowds. Let's see what happens, eh?
Lando, we heard you won at Monaco. How's life been since then? Spill the beans!
Lando NORRIS (McLaren): Oh, man! Winning Monaco was intense! You know, it's the race everyone wants to win, and it's a beast of a circuit. But Saturday is the real deal, where you gotta show up and do your thing. It's kinda crazy how difficult it is to qualify there. But I had a great weekend overall, and it was a huge relief to finally cross the finish line as the winner.
Monaco holds a special place in racing history, and to be able to say I've won there is pretty awesome. It's definitely one for the highlight reel!
Just been keeping it real low-key since the race, enjoying the moment and reflecting on what happened. It was pretty wild, man!
Ollie, what's your take on the Barcelona circuit?
Ollie BEARMAN (Haas): Oh, Barcelona's a pretty sweet track, mate. It's one we've done the most laps on because of all the testing there. It's a fast track with some tricky sections that require a lot of precision. The new Sector 3 makes it even better, I think. I'm eager to get out there and put down some laps!
The car's been doing alright so far this season, but it's tricky to predict our performance at each track. We brought some upgrades in Imola, and we'll see how they perform here in high-speed corners. If everything goes as planned, it should be another solid weekend. Fingers crossed!
Carlos Sainz (Williams): "I'm not too focused on the Barcelona Grand Prix technical directive as it seems to be more about front wings becoming stiffer, which I don't expect to cause significant changes among teams."
Lando Norris (McLaren): "Despite winning at Monaco, football isn't my primary interest. I'm more concerned with ensuring my form stays strong on the racing track as we head into the Barcelona Grand Prix."
