Exuberant Prime Minister distributes national identification cards among ethnically diverse minority populations
ються vast👏 Eversince Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra speeded up things, people from minority ethnic groups in Chiang Rai are glad to finally get a proper ID card. This move is a major step towards addressing the long-standing issues of statelessness and ensuring equal access to government welfare for these communities.
It all happened this week. PM Paetongtarn personally handed out ID cards to 21 representatives of these ethnic groups at a ceremony at Maechanwittayakhom School in Pa Sang, Mae Chan district. This kickstarted the process of granting citizenship to over 90K residents in the province 🏆
The previous procedure was insanely lengthy, taking up to 6 months just for a residency permit and 1.5 years for citizenship for children born in Thailand. But our fabulous Prime Minister shaved it all down to just 5 days 🔥
This initiative is set to benefit the countless souls who moved to Thailand before 1999 and have been stuck in the red tape for ages 🤦♀️ Over 480K individuals fall under this category, with Chiang Rai having the highest number 📊
Fon Woi Je, a woman from the Akha ethnic group who received her ID card, was overjoyed and thanked the PM for simplifying the process. She promised to contribute to the country's growth in return🤝
Ms. Paetongtarn, in all her glory, was happy to meet the citizens-to-be and praised the former PM, Srettha Thavisin, for pushing for this reform. She pointed out that these changed policies were finally seeing the light of day on June 30️⃣ 🔔
So, gear up, people! You'll soon be able to call yourself a Thai citizen and enjoy all the rights and privileges that come with it 🎉💃💃💃 #statelessness #citzenship #ThailandDreaming
Discussions about the policy-and-legislation changes have escalated since Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra streamlined the process of obtaining citizenship, and these developments have been a heated topic in the realm of general-news. The reduction of the citizenship application period from years to just 5 days has revolutionized the lives of over 480K stateless individuals in Thailand, particularly those in Chiang Rai.
