In a recent ruling, the Central District Court of Sochi found 22-year-old Ovsep Grigoryan guilty of posting prohibited symbols, sentencing him to two years of imprisonment, suspended with a two-year probation period.

Grigoryan, who was previously held administratively responsible for posting Nazi images, was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 282.4 of the RF Criminal Code. The publications made by Grigoryan were found to violate Russia's legislation on countering extremism.

The court's decision comes after Grigoryan published images featuring the swastika symbol, which is associated with the Nazi party, and the emblem of the 3rd SS Tank Division "Totenkopf", a division of the Waffen-SS during World War II. He also published images featuring "thieves' stars", insignia of the extremist organization "Criminal United Unity".

Grigoryan's actions were deemed a threat to the spread of extremist ideology. His publications on a Telegram channel posed a significant risk to society, according to the court.

Interestingly, a separate incident occurred regarding Grigoryan's passport application. It was revealed that a passport may not be issued due to a photo taken by a neurosurgeon. The reasons behind this decision are not yet clear.

This is not the first time Grigoryan has faced legal consequences for his actions. Previously, he spent five days in detention for posting Nazi images. The court's decision serves as a reminder of the seriousness with which Russia treats the spread of extremist ideology.
