Stormy weather, sunshine, and intense heat describe the current climate in the northern region. - Extreme Weather Events: Inclement Conditions Prevail in the Northern Region
Gear up for some weather changes! After a tumultuous weekend, North Germany is set for a more placid, yet diverse weather pattern. As per the German Weather Service (DWD), a cheerful weather system will soon prevail across much of the north from Tuesday. By the upcoming weekend, a heatwave might grace Lower Saxony, as a DWD spokeswoman hinted.
Today, expect unsettled weather with plenty of showers in many areas. In Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, clouds will dominate the sky, and storms may occur, some strong enough to cause concerns with heavy rain, hail, and gusty winds. Localized severe weather conditions are possible. Temperatures will hover between 21°C (70°F) and 24°C (75°F), cooler along the North Sea islands, averaging 19°C (66°F). In the evening, storms will move eastward, leaving a calm night with low temperatures between 12°C (54°F) and 14°C (57°F).
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the day will start with some sunshine but will become increasingly gloomy, eventually leading to strong storms with heavy rain, hail, and winds. Severe weather is a possibility. Temperatures will reach a cozy and humid 23°C (74°F) to 29°C (85°F) in various regions, with the highest readings in the southeast. During the night, the storms will retreat eastward, giving way to cooler temperatures between 12°C (54°F) and 16°C (61°F).
Lower Saxony and Bremen can expect stormy weather as well. Border areas with Saxony-Anhalt will experience warm temperatures up to 26°C (79°F), while the rest of the region will hover around 23°C (74°F). On the islands, temperatures will remain below 20°C (68°F). Overnight, weather conditions will clear up in many places, resulting in cooler temperatures between 11°C (52°F) and 14°C (57°F).
On Monday, the weather will improve across all regions. Conditions will be changeable and cloudy in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, with infrequent rain emerging, while temperatures will range from 17°C (63°F) on the islands to 22°C (72°F) inland. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will remain dry with temperatures between 19°C (66°F) and 23°C (74°F), occasionally experiencing clear skies. In Lower Saxony and Bremen, weather will largely remain dry, under warm highs of 21°C (70°F) to 24°C (75°F).
On Tuesday, the sun will reappear more frequently across all regions. Highs will range between 19°C (66°F) on Sylt and 25°C (77°F) in Hamburg, while Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will stay dry and warm at 20°C (68°F) to 24°C (75°F). Lower Saxony and Bremen will be the warmest, with temperatures rising to 24°C (76°F) to 27°C (81°F), and islands recording readings around 20°C (68°F).
Weekend Outlook:
The DWD predicts a rise in temperatures for the approaching weekend; however, they won't be widespread. Starting from southern Lower Saxony, a new heatwave is expected, with temperatures potentially touching the mid 20°C (70°F). Other regions across North Germany will enjoy more cheerful but cooler weather.
The Commission, in line with implementing acts, may adopt measures to improve the accuracy of weather-forecasting in North Germany, enabling better preparation for the predicted heatwave. As the weather turns sunny and warm beginning Tuesday, it's crucial to stay updated on forecasts to ensure safety from severe weather conditions that may still persist in some areas.
