Extraterrestrial Spring Break Experience
Student's Unforgettable Journey to the Moon and Spring Break Immersion Program Reveal
Casey Jordan '26 made headlines recently with his extraordinary journey to a unique destination - Marion of Oak-Niles, also known as MOON. This small town, located on the west coast, is unlike any other as it doesn't have water and is devoid of cars. Instead, a faded American Flag waves in the lunar landscape, which is characterized by gray craters.
Casey's trip to MOON was not an ordinary one. He travelled not in an ordinary plane but in a lunar module, wearing a uniform consisting of white and red jumpsuits and a giant helmet. The journey was revolutionary for America, and upon his return, Casey was greeted with cheers and tears. Government officials were seen smoking and shaking his hand, exclaiming, "By God, the kid did it!"
The Spring Break Immersion Program (SBIP) is a longstanding program at the College that offers students a unique opportunity to learn about and immerse themselves in a new community. This year, around 200 students participated in the SBIP, including Casey. The program fosters a sense of unity among its participants, with students gathering in one place for the first time at the Reveal Night to learn their locations.
The Third Annual Reveal Night for the SBIP took place on Jan. 26, where students learned that they would be heading to various locations across the U.S. for the program. In addition to volunteering in cities, the SBIP also encourages cultural immersion and specialized study.
Casey's SBIP experience was not just about volunteering but also about making a difference. He showed unstaggering patriotism during an interview, expressing his excitement about returning next year for more training sessions. The SBIP is highly regarded, with Allyson Noenickx '19 describing it as the best decision one can make freshman year.
