Extensive Walkaround Design for Glacier 48, Designed to Handle Temperature Extremes
Catch a glimpse of the eye-catching Glacier 48 from boat builder Glacier Yachts. This badass boat boasts a sturdy all-aluminum build and rugged explorer yacht design. Despite its tough exterior, it still manages to look modern and fresh.
In Palma Boat Show, we got a closer look at this beast. Even in the most Mediterranean settings, it looked like it could handle any extreme, from Arctic winters to hot Spanish summers. With the cockpit doors and sunroof open, it showed off its versatility.
The design is by Dutch naval architect Guido de Groot, and it exudes a pleasing chunkiness, while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
Key Features
- Wide walkaround decks
- Deep gunwales and grab handles
- Clean, modern look
- Inflator built into one of the stern lockers
Go-Anywhere Ability
This boat's minimalist style extends to the interior, where the heavily reinforced and insulated glazing takes center stage in the saloon. Opt for a galley-up layout or choose sofas on both sides of the saloon with a drop-down table.
Up front, a raised two-person helm seat with a navigator's bench opposite offers a great view, thanks to commercial-style reverse-angled windscreens with heavy-duty wipers. The owner's cabin is nestled in the tall, vertical bow.
Below deck, there's a compact L-shaped galley at the foot of the companionway, a decent owner's cabin forward, a tight guest cabin under the saloon, and a single generous heads compartment between them. It's not the most spacious craft, but the fit and finish are well done in an unfussy manner.
The twin Volvo IPS800 engines promise a top speed of 35 knots and an estimated cruising range of up to 500nm from its 2,500-liter tanks.
This boat is RCD rated as Category B for Offshore cruising in seas up to 13ft. Its go-anywhere ability, striking looks, and customization potential are likely to attract buyers.
