In an unexpected move, the city administration has proposed a plan to revamp sports facilities instead of building a refugee home on the old ash pit along Paffrather Straße. The area adjacent to the Belkaw stadium will host five new or improved sports facilities. This decision is said to offset losses in sports areas during the construction of the IGP. 🏋️♀️🏋️♂️
According to the city administration's last-minute resolution, the old ash pit will be turned into a compliant artificial turf field once hazardous substances are removed. Additionally, a multifunctional area, suitable for activities like basketball, roller sports, bike tests, and more, will be designed. This zone can serve as a parking area for 50-60 cars during large events on the site. ♔🚗
An existing but underutilized grass side area, along with adjacent areas, will be transformed into a versatile sports facility accessible to all. The rundown basketball court with a long jump area and a shot put facility side area will also be upgraded. 🏀🇫🇷
In the revamp of sports facilities along Paffrather Straße, a new compliant artificial turf field for football and sports-analysis is planned. Furthermore, a multifunctional area suitable for various sports such as basketball, roller sports, and more, will be designed.
