Expressing dismay over the slow progress in combating racism and xenophobia, the European Parliament voices its apprehension.

On Sunday, October 19th, the Kulturbar froelich & herrlich in Westflügel Leipzig will play host to an exciting and thought-provoking event as part of the LOKAL DEKOLONIAL series. This series, a collaboration between our website, the Referat Internationale Zusammenarbeit of the city of Leipzig, and Mosaik Deutschland e.V. Heidelberg, aims to explore topics related to conflicts, wars, crises, and post-transition times, particularly focusing on the Russian exile community.

The event promises to present perspectives often overlooked, being loud, uncomfortable, and touching. It will feature a variety of musicians and bands, but the exact lineup and the title of their joint debut album are yet to be revealed. Highlights include the electro-poetic duo TATAR KYZ,LAR from Berlin, who will debut with the album 'AŞ', a musical memory archive that traces their migration biographies through translingual songs in Tatar, English, German, Belarusian, and Russian.

One of the performers, Dinara Rasuleva, a poet from Tatarstan, will share from her project 'Lostlingual', an experimental exploration of the creeping loss of one's native language. The eponymous book of this project was published in 2025 by Rab-Rab Press.

Another artist, Natalia Zaitseva, a long-time member of Moscow's feminist theater scene, will present a performance about memory, loss, and the life of foreign things.

The event is a cooperation between the Referat Internationale Zusammenarbeit of the city of Leipzig and the Federal Center for Political Education. It is part of the series LOKAL DEKOLONIAL in Leipzig and Heidelberg, and will include discussions about living pluralism in exile, needed alliances, and the space a city like Leipzig can offer.

Registration for the event is required and can be done via the calendar entry. The event will be conducted in English, German, Tatar, and Russian, with simultaneous whisper translation into German provided. The venue is wheelchair accessible.

The LOKAL DEKOLONIAL series includes additional events such as LOKAL DEKOLONIAL: Framings, Namings, Solidarities - Bubbles between PostOst, Diaspora and Exile and LOKAL DEKOLONIAL: Belarus! Межы Памежжа - The Border of the Borderlands.

Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to experience diverse talent and perspectives at the LOKAL DEKOLONIAL event on October 19th.
