In a shocking turn of events, Egyptian actor and singer Mohamed Ramadan's concert at the Porto Beats Festival was disrupted by an explosion at the Golf Porto Marina area on the North Coast. The incident, initially suspected to be an assassination attempt, was later confirmed as an accident caused by a fireworks malfunction.
During the incident, a fireworks canister exploded, killing a 24-year-old pyrotechnics team member named Hossam Abdel Moneim and injuring six others. The explosion occurred near the visual effects equipment, resulting from a malfunction in one of the firework show cylinders.
Mohamed Ramadan, who was scheduled to step onto the stage at the time of the incident, immediately stopped the concert, helped guide the injured to ambulances, and ensured an orderly evacuation. Emergency services responded promptly, and injured individuals were treated with one remaining in critical condition after surgery.
Authorities have been investigating the incident, and the pyrotechnics company stated that all legal permits were in order. No sources suggest the event was anything other than an unfortunate accidental malfunction during the fireworks display.
Yasser Al-Hariri, the event organizer, and Mohamed Al-Sayed from the Fireworks Company have given different accounts of the incident, with investigations ongoing and all officials involved being questioned.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Ramadan is still filming his new movie "Lion," written and directed by Mohamed Diab. The release date for "Lion" in theaters has not been specified.
