Explosion at Brandis Asylum Shelter: Authorities Seek Witnesses
An explosion at an asylum shelter in Brandis near Leipzig last Thursday left no one injured, but authorities are seeking witnesses to help with their investigation. The incident occurred late in the evening, with a security guard noticing the explosion around 22:18.
The Saxony State Criminal Police Office (LKA) is appealing for anyone who saw something suspicious in the evening hours of August 10 to come forward. This includes any tips, photos, or videos from social media that could assist in the investigation.
The explosion caused minor damage to the shelter. Two male residents were reportedly in the room at the time of the incident. Authorities suspect unknown individuals threw a lit bomb through an open window, igniting the explosion.
The LKA is considering a political motive behind the incident and is currently investigating all leads.
Despite the minor damage, the incident has raised concerns. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the criminal police. The investigation is ongoing, with the LKA leaving no stone unturned to find those responsible.
