Experiencing an Unusual Evening: Pair Recounts Their Incarceration Inside Famed Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and the Bizarre Atmosphere That Ensued

In an unexpected turn of events, Stephen, 48, and Michelle, 44, from St Helens, found themselves in a pickle when they were unable to vacate Madame Tussauds, Blackpool after closing time.

Enthusiastically exploring the museum, they observed an eerie emptiness—the venue deserted and lights extinguished. As they tried to leave, they felt a chilling suspicion that all the exit doors had been securely locked.

With nowhere to go but the company of their waxen companions, they tried to shake off the disquiet by banging on doors and waving at passersby through the windows. One innocent bystander even waved back, unaware of their predicament.

Feeling increasingly panicked, the couple decided to reach out to Lancashire Police for assistance. Initially, the response was filled with skepticism, possibly thinking it was a prank call.

"After a while, we had to phone the cops, I reckon they thought it was a hoax at first," Stephen told Liverpool Echo, describing his unusual outing that took place in March.

Thankfully for the Robinson duo, Madame Tussauds had a replica Coronation Street set, complete with a bustling Rovers Return. At least they could find solace in drinks, snacks, and ice cream while they awaited rescue.

To their relief, help arrived sooner than expected—after contacting the police, a manager showed up to unlock the venue, allowing them to leave just 30 minutes after their initial call.

Stephen reminisced about the bizarre experience, joking, "When I heard the Coronation Street theme tune afterwards, I was like 'whoa' - it's been a long time since spending so much time with Ken and Deirdre."

He added, "It was all right in the beginning; it was pretty amusing, but it started getting eerie towards the end."

Madame Tussauds stepped up and offered the couple a full refund and even a complimentary return visit. A spokesperson for the attraction confirmed that the management team had been present throughout the ordeal, ensuring the couple were never left alone in the building.

Lancashire Police confirmed receiving a call at 6:10 PM on March 8, stating, "We were summoned to Madame Tussauds, Blackpool, over a report that two members of the public were trapped inside the premises. The manager of the premises arrived at 6:34 PM to unlock the establishment, and the affected individuals exited at 6:44 PM."

Although the couple had a close encounter with being wax figures for the night, they had a unique and inspiring story—perfect for reminiscing over an ice cream at the Rovers Return.

In the midst of their unusual adventure, Stephen and Michelle shared their story on social media, sparking interest and laughter among friends.

Curious about the unconventional news, local entertainment channels covered the story, highlighting the couple's bizarre after-hours adventure at Madame Tussauds.
