Expensive Honda RA272 scale model from Amalgam Collection surpasses the price of a regular Civic car.

In a celebration of automotive history, Amalgam Collection and Honda Racing Corporation have joined forces to create a limited-edition replica of the legendary Honda RA272 Formula One race car. This exquisite 1:8 scale model, priced at $28,995, will be produced in a run of just 30 units.

The creation of this highly detailed model, crafted in the UK, is a meticulous process, involving approximately 1,600 parts and a staggering 4,500 hours of development. Each replica part is cast from silicon molds, with each mold used to craft 20-30 parts before a new one is created.

In-period photos of the RA272 were scanned to replicate the fine curves and intricate details of the original race car. The paint job of the replica model is detailed, using colour references from archives to ensure authenticity. Each model takes 450 hours to handcraft, showcasing the level of craftsmanship that goes into each piece.

The replica engine, a 1.5-liter V12, is included in the model but is not functional. This engine produced 230 horsepower revving at 12,000 rpm, a testament to the power that propelled the RA272 to success.

The replica model comes with a bespoke display case, a certificate of authenticity, and a commemorative booklet signed by HRC President Koji Watanabe. This limited-edition model is more than just a replica; it represents the racing DNA of the brand and is a reminder of the time when success started gravitating towards Honda in the world of Formula One.

The collaboration between Amalgam Collection and Honda Racing Corporation was initiated to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Honda RA272. This iconic race car marked a significant milestone in Honda's motorsport history, as it was the vehicle that secured Honda's first-ever F1 race win at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix.

Honda's continued involvement in Formula One is evident today, with the company supplying the Red Bull R20 engine for the current F1 generation. This limited-edition replica serves as a tribute to Honda's rich motorsport heritage and its ongoing commitment to racing excellence.

The Amalgam team travelled to Honda Collection Hall in Motegi, Japan, for the accurate digital scans of the original Honda RA272 model. This journey underscores the dedication and attention to detail that goes into each replica model, making it a must-have for any collector of automotive history.

Sports enthusiasts and event attendees may be thrilled to discover a unique limited-edition model of a renowned Formula One race car, representating Honda's racing DNA and its rich motorsport heritage. This masterpiece, a replica of the legendary Honda RA272 Formula One race car, is the result of a collaboration between Amalgam Collection and Honda Racing Corporation, aiming to honor the 60th anniversary of this iconic vehicle.
