Expanding Travel Restrictions: USA Contemplates entry ban for 36 more countries

Expanding Travel Restrictions to Include an Additional 36 Nations, as Pursued by the U.S.

Heard a rumor? The US might be planning to extend its travel restrictions to an additional 36 countries! That's right, according to an internal memo from the State Department, authenticated by AFP on Monday, the federal government is considering tightening its borders even more.

Last week, a travel ban was put in place for citizens of 12 countries. Now, folks hailing from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen are barred from setting foot in the United States.

The White House justified this move by emphasizing the need to safeguard US citizens from potential "foreign terrorists." Back in 2017, the administration of President Donald Trump implemented limited entry bans for Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela, with some work visas still recognized from these countries.

Soon, we might be saying bon voyage to even more nations, including Egypt, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Cambodia, Syria, and others spanning Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific region.

According to The Washington Post, they've got their hands on a copy of the internal memo, which was given the approving scrawl of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and distributed to diplomats working with these countries.

If the ban is expanded to include every nation on this list, nearly one in five individuals globally would reside in a country facing a US entry ban.

So, grab your passports and keep your eyes peeled for updates! This isn't a drill—these could be serious travel restrictions we're talking about here.

  1. The potential expansion of US travel restrictions could bar citizens from some African, Asian, Caribbean, and Pacific countries, such as Egypt, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Syria, from entering the USA, according to a leaked internal memo.
  2. This increased travel ban, if implemented, would align with the US government's policy-and-legislation efforts to secure American borders and protect its citizens from potential threats, such as migration and war-and-conflicts.
  3. As a result, vocational training programs and community policy initiatives in these vulnerable regions may face challenges due to the lack of migration opportunities, which could have far-reaching impacts on vocational training and general-news narratives about developing economies and politics.
