A potential expansion of travel restrictions to the USA is under discussion, affecting citizens from 36 additional countries. This revelation was made public via an internal memo from the Department of State, authenticated by AFP on Monday. Last week, a travel ban targeted citizens from 12 countries. Individuals from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen are no longer permitted to enter the United States.
The White House supported this rule by emphasizing the security of US citizens from "foreign terrorists." Moreover, the administration of US President Donald Trump implemented temporary entry bans on Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela; however, some work visas from these countries are still recognized.
Should the ban be extended to encompass the 36 countries contained in the memo, nearly one in five people worldwide may find themselves living in a country subject to a US entry ban. This expansion could potentially affect Egypt, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Cambodia, Syria, and numerous other regions, including Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.
Insights suggest that the list involves:
- Cambodia
- Kyrgyzstan
- Bhutan
- Syria
- Tonga
- Vanuatu
Additionally, 25 African countries, like:
- Egypt
- Ethiopia
- Djibouti
- Nigeria,
and several Caribbean nations, including:
- Antigua and Barbuda
- Dominica
- Saint Kitts and Nevis
- Saint Lucia
are reportedly involved [1][2][4]. The complete list has not been disclosed publicly and is subject to the 60-day compliance period [1][2].

The potential expansion of the US travel ban may include countries like Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Syria, and several African and Caribbean nations, as reported by several news sources. This proposed policy, if implemented, could significantly impact vocational training and community engagement opportunities for citizens of these affected countries. In light of ongoing war-and-conflicts and political tensions, it is essential for the international community to address and discuss the broader implications of such travel restrictions on general news, economy, and society.
