Expanding the Việt Nam-Algeria Friendship Association under new leadership for development
The Viet Nam-Algeria Friendship Association has announced its new goals and strategies for the 2025-2030 term, aiming to elevate bilateral relations beyond formal diplomacy by nurturing social, cultural, and economic partnerships.
The association's President, Nguyen Tuong Van, and Vice President, Nguyen Ngoc Hung, outlined these ambitious plans during the fourth national congress of the association, which took place in Hanoi on Tuesday.
Boosting Economic Cooperation and Tourism Linkages
The association plans to intensify cooperation in tourism, facilitating greater travel and exchange between the two countries. To achieve this, they will focus on promoting economic ties, likely involving trade and investment flows, to boost bilateral cooperation.
Strengthening Cultural Exchanges and People-to-People Connections
The association also aims to foster richer cultural exchanges to deepen mutual understanding and friendship. They will expand people-to-people diplomacy, which will help build enduring relations and grassroots connections between the populations of both nations.
Prioritising Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation
Priority should be given to cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, including renewable energy projects, agricultural technology, and human resource training.
Embracing Innovation and Efficiency
The association's new Executive Committee, led by Nguyen Tuong Van, aims to build upon past successes by embracing innovation and creativity. Nguyen Ngoc Hung urged the association to continue renewing its thinking, approach, content, and methods to match the current context and to explore and diversify its activities.
Engaging Businesses and Expanding Membership
Engaging businesses with ties to Algeria in the association's activities is recommended. The membership of the association should be expanded, particularly among young people, including alumni of the Vietnam-Algeria School.
Enhancing Information Dissemination and Digital Platforms
Enhancing information dissemination, particularly through digital platforms, should be a focus. Closer and more frequent exchanges with the Algeria-Vietnam Friendship Association in Algeria should be pursued to identify cooperation opportunities and strengthen ties between the Vietnamese community in Algeria and their homeland.
The Role of the Association as a Bridge Between Nations
Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, emphasised the association's vital role as a bridge fostering mutual understanding, solidarity, and cooperation between the peoples of Vietnam and Algeria. The Algerian Ambassador appreciates the Vietnam-Algeria Friendship Association and relevant Vietnamese agencies for their contributions to bilateral relations in recent years.
Support and Collaboration from the Algerian Embassy
The Charge d'Affaires of the Algerian Embassy in Vietnam expressed hope that the association would continue to support and propose new, diverse cooperative activities in the new term. The Algerian Embassy in Vietnam hopes to work alongside the association to implement meaningful initiatives that benefit the peoples of both Algeria and Vietnam.
A Focus on Public Diplomacy and Local Cooperation
The focus of the new Executive Committee is on expanding cultural exchanges, fostering cooperation between localities and friendship organizations, and promoting public diplomacy to underpin economic, trade, and investment growth.
Nguyen Ngoc Hung urged the association to maintain traditional peace, solidarity, and friendship events and to actively promote national interests. He also praised the association's flexibility and creativity in its initiatives and expressed hope that the next term would reinforce its role as a catalyst for economic, trade, and investment collaboration.
In the new term, Nguyen Tuong Van, Deputy Minister of Construction, will lead the association as its President. He has been elected for the 2025-2030 term, and his leadership is expected to drive the association towards achieving its ambitious goals.
