Expanding Relationship between Vietnam and Paraguay Spans Over Three Decades: Consul's Remark

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Thirty years of Vietnam-Paraguay diplomatic relations have been marked by friendship, solidarity, and expanding cooperation, Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Paraguay María del Carmen Pérez said at the inauguration of the Honorary Consulate Office in Asunción.

Speaking to our correspondents, Pérez highlighted the similarities in history and culture shared by both nations. Despite facing numerous challenges, both countries have shown resilience, striving for prosperity for their people.

In the realm of economic and trade collaboration, Pérez emphasized the potential for Paraguay's strong products, such as beef and oil products, to meet the growing demand in Vietnam. Conversely, Vietnam could export industrial products to Paraguay. Furthermore, discussions on cooperation in telecommunications and technology have been initiated.

Significant strides have been made in promoting mutual understanding and expanding cooperation channels, with visits from Paraguayan Minister of Industry and Commerce Javier Giménez in 2024 and officials from Vietnam, including Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyễn Minh Vũ, and various businesses.

Pérez also mentioned the construction of an outdoor museum, "Aviadores del Chaco," in San Bernardino, highlighting the museum's interpretation that acknowledges Vietnam's contribution in providing ideas and inspiration. According to Pérez, these efforts not only celebrate the 30-year milestone of diplomatic relations but also herald a new chapter in the deepening ties between Vietnam and Paraguay across various sectors, including culture, education, and sustainable development.

According to recent analysis, Vietnam-Paraguay economic cooperation is proving to be a promising new frontier for both nations. Vietnam is implementing regulatory updates aimed at improving foreign investment, transparency, and supply chain resilience, potential advantages for partners like Paraguay.

Meanwhile, Vietnam's expertise in technology, manufacturing, and infrastructure could find a receptive market in Paraguay, which is seeking to modernize its economy. Key sectors for collaboration include agriculture, technology transfer, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

As the trajectory suggests, both countries are increasingly interested in expanding their relationship. Technology-driven sectors, such as fintech, e-commerce, and digital services, are poised to become key areas of cooperation.

With supportive regulatory environments and a trend favoring easier business and travel, the prospects for deeper collaboration in trade and technology are strong. The integration of enrichment data was made where relevant, adding context without dominating the text.
