Expanded Traffic Ease at Nad Al Hamar Crossroads: Introduction of a 850-metre Lane in Dubai
Dubai's 2025 Rapid Traffic Improvements Summer Plan focuses on multiple key upgrades aimed at reducing congestion, cutting travel times, and increasing road capacity in key areas such as Ras Al Khor and Nad Al Hamar. The plan, scheduled for completion by the end of August 2025, includes several significant improvements.
One of the key upgrades is the new traffic exit from Financial Centre Street to Ras Al Khor Road via Bu Kadra Interchange. This exit, which opened in early August 2025, cuts peak rush-hour travel time by 54%, reducing it from 13 minutes to just 6 minutes. It also doubles vehicle capacity to 3,000 cars per hour, significantly easing congestion on this vital route.
Another significant improvement is the construction of an 850-metre new lane towards Nad Al Hamar Intersection. This addition increases capacity by 33%, from 4,800 to 6,400 vehicles per hour, reduces travel time from 15 minutes to 11 minutes, and enhances traffic flow by up to 27%, especially during evening peak hours.
Additionally, the right-turn lane from Ras Al Khor towards Al Meydan Street Interchange is being widened from two to three lanes. This upgrade boosts vehicle capacity from 1,800 to 2,700 per hour, a 30% jump, which reduces congestion and waiting times at intersections during peak hours. This upgrade benefits traffic heading towards Business Bay, Al Quoz, and other developments.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is also widening the storage lane at Nad Al Hamar Intersection for traffic approaching from Al Rebat Street. This expansion at Nad Al Hamar Intersection for traffic from Al Rebat Street will help reduce queuing at the intersection.
These improvements are part of RTA's ongoing efforts to develop the road network along vital corridors. The new lane and storage lane enhancements will improve connectivity between residential communities and key destinations, such as Al Rashidiya, Al Qusais, and Dubai International Airport. The improvements will support efficient traffic flow across both the main and local road networks, helping ease traffic congestion from Ras Al Khor Road and Al Rebat Street towards Nad Al Hamar Intersection.
These enhancements are expected to contribute to better daily mobility and residents' quality of life. They are in line with RTA's vision as The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility. The plan aims to not only enhance traffic flow but also to improve road safety and the efficiency of the local road network in the area.
These combined efforts are part of Dubai’s strategic goals to improve urban mobility by enhancing road network efficiency, reducing travel times, and offering safer, more reliable journeys across the city. The 2025 Rapid Traffic Improvements, specifically the Summer 2025 Improvement Plan, is a significant step towards achieving these goals.
