Expanded Force: 14 Fresh Officers Join Local Law Enforcement Team

On September 1, 2025, the Euskirchen Police Department welcomed 14 new officers to its ranks in a ceremony held at the district administration building. The new recruits, a mix of young graduates and experienced police officers, are responsible for the protection of approximately 200,000 citizens in the district.

In his speech, Police Director Gabriele Mälchers highlighted the unique characteristics of the region, such as its rural nature, proximity to European neighbors, and diverse deployment situations. He expressed joy at the balanced mix of young professionals and experienced staff, stating it enriches the team's diversity.

Landrat Markus Ramers, the district's administrative head, congratulated the newly appointed police commissioners on their successful graduation and appointment. He emphasized the importance of police service for the preservation of democracy, rule of law, and free society.

The District Police Authority in Euskirchen, the third smallest in North Rhine-Westphalia in terms of personnel, but the sixth largest in terms of area, has structures including locations in Euskirchen, Schleiden, Mechernich, and district service external stations.

He praised the dedication of the new officers and highlighted the special responsibility that police work carries in daily contact with the population. However, the authority did not provide specific details about the roles or positions of the newly joined officers.

The rural structure and proximity to Belgium and Rhineland-Palatinate require close and cross-border cooperation, but the authority did not provide information about any cross-border cooperation requirements.
