Expanded Cycling in Cityscapes by 2025: An Upsurge in Cyclists, Increased Mileage, and Renewed Dedication!
The District of Fuerth has once again demonstrated its commitment to climate protection and sustainable mobility, as the 2025 Bike to Work and School Bike to Work campaigns saw a significant increase in participation and distance covered compared to the previous year.
According to the data, the number of teams participating in the 2025 campaign increased by around 12 percent, with a total of 123 teams forming in 13 municipalities. This surge in participation resulted in a total distance covered of approximately 411,449 kilometers, a 10 percent increase from 2024.
The most active municipality in the 2025 Bike to Work campaign was Oberasbach, with a staggering total of 67,917 kilometers covered. The most active cyclist in the district was Hans Stockert from Obermichelbach, who covered an impressive 2,211 kilometers.
The "Obermichelbach Express" team, despite having only three participants, boasted the highest kilometers per capita, with 1,747 kilometers per person. The Velogroup Großhabersdorf, with 91 members, cycled a total of 30,618 kilometers, making them the team with the most kilometers overall.
The 2025 School Bike to Work campaign also saw a notable increase in participation, with the Gymnasium Stein having the most participants (194) and covering the most distance (27,756 kilometers). This initiative underscores the district's commitment to promoting climate protection among young people.
District Administrator Bernd Obst stated that the growth in Bike to Work 2025 underscores the importance of sustainable mobility for the community. He emphasized that the community is sending a strong signal for climate protection and an environmentally friendly future.
