In the world of film and entertainment, the spotlight is shining on London this September as Screen Summit 2025 prepares to take centre stage. This prestigious event, scheduled for the 30th of September at the BFI Southbank, promises to be a gathering of industry heavyweights, eager to discuss and shape the future of cinema.

The summit will welcome an array of esteemed guests, including Zygi Kamasa, the founder and CEO of True Brit Entertainment, a UK distributor and producer-financier established in 2023 with the ambition to co-finance over $150m of independent UK projects in the next three years. Kamasa's impressive resume includes founding TV production firm Scorpio Productions, serving as CEO of Lionsgate UK and Europe, and overseeing UK distribution for films like La La Land, John Wick, and The Hunger Games.

True Brit Entertainment will be bringing a host of exciting projects to the table, such as Gurinder Chadha's Christmas Karma, Craig Roberts' The Scurry, and a boxing biopic titled Giant.

Joining Kamasa at the event will be John Friedberg, President of International at Black Bear. Friedberg, who joined the company in 2022, has been instrumental in overseeing the international sales and distribution of films like Jason Statham's 'A Working Man', Guy Ritchie's 'The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare', and Osgood Perkins' 'Longlegs'.

Another notable figure attending Screen Summit 2025 is Kezia Williams, Managing Director for the UK and Ireland at Universal Pictures International (UPI). Williams, who joined UPI in February, is responsible for sales, marketing, publicity, and finance in the UK and Ireland.

The topics to be discussed at the summit encompass a wide range of industry-related themes, with a focus on inclusivity, innovation, international perspectives, and new technologies shaping the screen industry. These discussions will include best practices for accessible productions and building inclusive, collaborative environments, challenges and developments in Latin American cinema, producing elevated art-house series, approaches to story sourcing in a multi-platform world, exploring new storytelling possibilities with AI, expanding opportunities in MENA cinema, and indigenous perspectives on creative sovereignty in co-productions.

Additional sessions will feature trailblazing producer panels and discussions on the evolving screen industry landscape, hosted by executives from See-Saw Films, Element, and Monumental, alongside the previously mentioned speakers.

Screen Summit 2025 will also explore the role of UK talent in the international market, attracting international financing and partners to UK film, and Ask the Experts. Other confirmed speakers include Ben Roberts, chief executive of the British Film Institute, who will deliver a keynote speech, as well as Eva Yates, Farhana Bhula, and Mia Bays.
