Exclusive Access Behind the Scenes of the Majestic Thoroughbred Racing World During National Racehorse Week

National Racehorse Week, organized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), is set to return for its fourth consecutive year, from September 7-15, aiming to improve public opinion of welfare in racing and build trust in the sport. Over 132 venues across the UK will host events as part of this annual celebration.

Some of the participating venues include Nicky Henderson's stud in Lambourne, Berkshire, and Charlie and Mark Johnston's yard in Middleham, North Yorkshire. Dave Loughnane's "Nawton" stable will also be taking part in the week-long event.

The event offers the public an opportunity to gain an insight into the life of a racehorse, with events at these venues including intimate tours, open days, and demonstrations such as farrier, equine swimming, and schooling. Racehorses will also be taken to visit schools, hospitals, charities, and community groups, providing a unique and educational experience.

The Racing Foundation, with support from the Racing Post and Godolphin, and The Horserace Betting Levy Board, are funding the event. This year, the Grand National, a horse race with a history of 180 years, will also be a focus, with Annunciata Elwes' article chronicling the decade-by-decade history of the famous race.

Annunciata Elwes, an alumna of a historical biographer's research team, is a Lancashire-born individual who currently resides in Hampshire with her family and a pug. She previously served as News & Property Editor for a platform, and before that, she worked at The Sunday Times Travel Magazine.

In addition to her work in journalism, Annunciata Elwes is also the author of a book titled "Equine Journeys: The British Horse World," which offers a unique perspective on the relationship between people and horses. Kate Green, an award-winning journalist specializing in art, culture, and property, is the director of contemporary art gallery TIN MAN ART. She co-founded a literary, art, and music festival in Oxfordshire.
