Exciting Prospect for UCLA Bruin Marching Band: Collaborating Musically with Muse on Their Upcoming Album Track
Muse's "Pressure" Features UCLA Bruin Marching Band
Muse, the Grammy award-winning English rock band, has added a unique twist to their latest album "Simulation Theory" by collaborating with the UCLA Bruin Marching Band. The band, known for its energetic performances and appearances in various TV shows and movies, lends its brass and woodwind section to the bonus track of "Pressure".
The recording session for "Pressure" took place at UCLA's Evelyn and Mo Ostin Music Center at the Herb Alpert School of Music in June. According to reports, the band members worked on the music for about a week before the recording session. Gordon Henderson, director of the Bruin Marching Band, arranged the brass and woodwind music for the song, while Kelly Flickinger, former assistant director, handled the percussion arrangements.
The experience of recording with Muse was reportedly enjoyable for the Bruin band members. Trombonist Matthew Espinoza found the experience fun and is forever grateful, while trumpet player Laila Sathe believes the band's version of "Pressure" will be a hit.
Muse, which has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, has won numerous awards including two Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards, and eight NME (New Music Expression) Awards. The band has also been featured in movies such as "The 41st Annual Academy Awards", 1969, "Silver Linings Playbook", 2012, "(500) Days of Summer", 2009, "That Thing You Do", 1996, "Legends of the Fall", 1994, "Fatal Instinct", 1993, and "In the Line of Fire", 1993.
Despite the collaboration on "Pressure", there is no documented participation by the UCLA Bruin Marching Band in the recording or live performances of the song. It appears that this collaboration is undocumented in major music, band, or university publications.
In addition to their work with Muse, the UCLA Bruin Marching Band has made appearances in numerous TV shows, including "Katy Tur's 'Battleground College Tour', 2018", "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", 2016, "The Amazing Race", Season 24 premiere, 2014, "Jeopardy!", 1990 and 2001, "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson", 1989, and "The Love Boat", 1982.
