UCLA Bruin Marching Band Collaborates with Grammy-Winning Band Muse
The UCLA Bruin Marching Band has made a unique musical collaboration with the renowned English rock band, Muse, on the track "Pressure." The band's distinctive sound has been blended with Muse's music to create a one-of-a-kind piece that has already been heard on several broadcasts for the National Football League, Major League Baseball playoffs, and college football.
Gordon Henderson, the director of the Bruin Marching Band, arranged the brass and woodwind music for "Pressure," while Kelly Flickinger, former assistant director, handled the percussion. The recording session took place in June at UCLA in the studio located in the Evelyn and Mo Ostin Music Center at the Herb Alpert School of Music.
The Bruin Marching Band's collaboration with Muse is not the first time they have ventured beyond live sports events. They have made numerous appearances across TV shows, movies, and commercials, including "The Love Boat" in 1982, "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" in 1989, "The Amazing Race" in 2014, and "The 41st Annual Academy Awards" in 1969. The band has also made appearances on "Jeopardy!" in 1990 and 2001, and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in 2016. More information about their appearances can be found on the UCLA Bruin Marching Band website.
