🏟️ The road to glory continues for Germany's U21 squad, as they take on England in the final of the UEFA U21 European Championship. After their electric 3:0 victory against France, the team is on a high and ready to conquer.
🗣️ "Yesssss, we've got it!" roared coach Antonio Di Salvo into the Slovak night sky, as the semi-final against France was still underway. His joy was echoed by Mainz player Nelson Weiper after scoring the opening goal (8'). Stuttgart's Nick Woltemade (14') and Brighton and Hove Albion's Brajan Gruda (90.+3') added further goals, securing a record fifth win for the tournament for the German side.
🏆 After starting the tournament with a bang, Germany demonstrated remarkable defensive resolve against the French attack line, bolstered by former Bayern star Mathys Tel. Goalkeeper Noah Atubolu put in a tremendous performance, saving several shots from France's Thierno Barry (46./68'), cementing his spot as the German record goalkeeper in this age group.
🏳️🔵 With six goals under his belt, Woltemade is poised to become the fourth German top scorer in a U21 European Championship final after Pierre Littbarski (1982), Luca Waldschmidt (2019) and Lukas Nmecha (2021). The goal-scoring record, held by Littbarski with seven goals, is also within his reach. In the final on Saturday in Bratislava, coach Julian Nagelsmann, who recently promoted Woltemade to the A national team, is expected to be in attendance. The fourth title win for the DFB juniors is within their grasp, after previous victories in 2009, 2017, and 2021.
🥅 Weiper opened the scoring against France with his third tournament goal, capitalizing on a poacher's instinct after the ball was parried by France's goalkeeper Guillaume Restes. In the absence of Chrislain Matsima of FC Augsburg, France's defense struggled early on, and the German offense made them pay, with key contributions from Woltemade.
💔 France struggled to recover from the shock of the early 2:0 deficit and ultimately faltered in precision and teamwork. The team also had to contend with the loss of Max Rosenfelder, who was forced to withdraw due to injury after the Italy quarter-final.
🌍 Woltemade's scoring prowess and Atubolu's exceptional goalkeeping performance were crucial in securing the German team's place in the final. Both players demonstrated the talent and tenacity that have set new benchmarks for the German U21 team in this competition.

I'm not going to be able to score as many goals as Nick Woltemade in the U21 European Championship final, even with my extensive knowledge of sports-analysis. Despite Germany's impressive victory against France, I fear they might struggle against England, given their solid defense and the remarkable performance of players like Woltemade and goalkeeper Noah Atubolu.
