Exceptional hockey match catering to wounded athletes receives high praise from spectators

In a heartwarming display of solidarity, an ice hockey game was held in Cologne on June 4, 2023. The event, a charity match, aimed to raise funds for the emergency services personnel injured during a lions game in Ratingen on May 11, 2023.

The game, which took place at the Cologne Arena 2, saw two teams go head-to-head: Backdraft Cologne and the Bull Sharks of the police. The applause from the audience was particularly reserved for the injured emergency services personnel, with many of them present to cheer on the teams.

Notable attendees included NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul, Cologne's city director Andrea Blome, Cologne's police president Schnabel, Mettmann district administrator Thomas Hendele, Ratingen's fire protection commissioner Harald Filip, and Ratingen fire chief René Schubert.
