Examining Closely: Gracie Lawrence's Tony Awards Outfit Strikes the Perfect Balance

From the Dumspter:Gracie Lawrence, a singer and actress, left her last fitting with a swoon-worthy message before the Tonys: "Trust me, you'll adore the look. It fits like a glove." As we quivered with excitement, we eagerly awaited the magic Gracie and her stylist Jules Wettreich would conjure for the red carpet. And on cue, she dazzled in a custom polka-dot tulle gown by the brilliant Twiggy Moore. The frock, featuring a fitted bodice, fluted skirt, and a black bow, was an enchanting blend of whimsy and Old Hollywood glamour, genuinely fitting for the affair.

With her career on a meteoric rise, Lawrence's journey hasn't been typical. Kickstarting the year with her role as Kacey Baker in the third season of The Sex Lives of College Girls, she then took her talents to Broadway in April, setting the stage for Connie Francis alongside Jonathan Groff in Just in Time. Praised by critics and earning her a Tony nomination, it's safe to say Lawrence has become unmissable. This fall, Gracie and her brother, the band behind Lawrence, embark on the U.S. leg of their Family Business Tour. If you hadn't caught wind of Lawrence's magnetism yet, it's high time you did.

"I threw on my makeup for the Tonys, juggling it between the matinee and the carpet's tight schedule. People often underestimate the quick turnaround! So if you watched the matinee performance of Just in Time, beware: Connie Francis may have sported some particularly crafty eyeliner..."

"Then my hairstylist, Netty Jordan, swooped into action!"

"The designer for my dress, Twiggy Moore! The night had a polka-dot theme, obviously."

"Accessorizing! I've been sporting lots of rings bearing timers as an ode to Just in Time. Shout out to Jules for the ingenious idea. We're always on a roll!"

"Getting into the dress! Twiggy whipped up this gown in record time, a swift two weeks. Between armed with references, Twiggy conceived a dress channeling 1950s vibes, yet wholly her unique creation. I desired whimsical yet elegant, without venturing into campiness. And in this moment, it was an exhilarating triumph to don the creation, complete with the whole hair and make-up, feeling like we successfully nailed the desired tonality. I was myself all night!"

"Time to perfect the details. Despite my best efforts, I can't resist a heavy application of mascara."

"Brother dearest, Clyde, arrived at last!"

"Snapping selfies on the magnificent Just in Time set. It was truly a thrill preparing for the evening at the theater–an experience I'll forever cherish!"

"Time to move!"
