Examination Accomplished: Youth Fire Departments Heusenstamm and Rembrücken Achieve Excellent Results
Capping off an Exciting Day at Sportpark Dreieich
This past Saturday, the youth fire departments from Heusenstamm and Rembrücken achieved the coveted prize of the German youth fire brigade - the performance badge. This prestigious honor, known in German as the "Jugendfeuerwehr-Leistungsabzeichen" or "Goldenes Jugendfeugerwehr-Leistungsabzeichen," is the pinnacle of a youth firefighter's career and demands exceptional teamwork, fitness, and specialist knowledge.
The Ultimate Challenge
To claim the performance badge, aspiring firefighters must meet certain criteria: they must be at least 15 years old and complete various tests in groups of nine. The tests include sporting challenges like shot put and relay races, as well as firefighting tasks such as an extinguishing attack using water from open sources and a speed test for coupling hoses. Contestants' theoretical knowledge of firefighting techniques, first aid, and general education is also put to the test.
Cooperation under Pressure
In the shot put competition, teams must collectively reach a total distance of at least 55 meters. The 1,500-meter relay needs to be completed within 4:10 minutes. To make things more complex, the speed test requires teams to lay out eight C hoses in a row and connect them within 75 seconds without twisting, all while adhering to official service regulations.
Exceptional Results in All Areas
Accompanied by four other teams from the Offenbach district, the firefighters of Heusenstamm and Rembrücken excelled in these challenging tests on a beautiful summer day. The event attracted numerous spectators, including firefighters and politicians, who watched the thrilling performances. In the end, all participating teams proved worthy of the performance badge.
