Ex-UFC champion Rampage Jackson's son, Raja Jackson, taken into custody, charged with a felony following the circulation of footage depicting him brutally assaulting a wrestler.
In a shocking turn of events, Raja Jackson, the son of former UFC champion Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson, has been arrested for a felony charge following an incident at a KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy event last month in Sun Valley, California.
The incident, which was initially presented as a scripted part of the show, took a violent turn when Jackson allegedly attacked professional wrestler Stewart Smith, also known as Syko Stu, striking him multiple times in the face during the live event. The assault left Smith unconscious and bloodied in the ring.
Footage of the incident, posted on social media and livestreamed on Kick, shows Jackson repeatedly punching Smith in the face and the side of his head, even when he was motionless. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers filled out a felony battery report at the scene, though Jackson had already left the venue.
The LAPD arrested Jackson on Thursday, with a bond set at $50,000. According to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department documents, Jackson is charged with violently attacking Smith, resulting in serious injuries including a 'serious head injury', trauma to both jaws, a laceration to his upper lip, and a fracture to the maxilla bone, resulting in the loss of several teeth. Smith was hospitalized and later released on August 31.
In the aftermath of the incident, KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy issued an apology, stating it was an 'egregious act of violence' that was not intended to occur. The organizer of KnokX further condemned the incident as a 'selfish, irresponsible act of violence' against Syko Stu.
Rampage Jackson, the father of Raja Jackson, spoke out on social media to condemn his son's actions. After the incident, he believes his son should face consequences and undergo therapy. Rampage Jackson expressed his views to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.
Neither Raja Jackson nor KnokX have commented on Rampage Jackson's statements. Kick has confirmed that Raja Jackson's account has been banned from their platform.
CNN Sports reached out to organizer KnokX for comment, but they previously stated that the incident was not part of the planned show. The KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, which has been operating for 17 years, has stated that this is the first time such an incident has occurred.
Syko Stu, who has since recovered from his injuries, has not made any public statements regarding the incident. The investigation into the matter is still active and ongoing.
