In a Shocking Turn of Events, Former Conservative MP Admits to Harassing Ex-Spouse

Katie Wallis, formerly known as Jamie Wallis, finds herself in hot water after confessing to harassing her ex-wife. The 41-year-old, who served as the MP for Bridgend from 2019 until last year's election, pleaded guilty to the "harassment without violence" of Rebecca Wallis between February and March this year.

The admission was made at Cardiff Magistrates' Court, where Wallis was accused of leaving a series of messages. Defending her client, Narita Bahra KC, expressed a desire to spare both parties, including their families, any additional distress.

"My client, despite having a public persona, has chosen to reintegrate themselves into the legal system," Bahra stated. A psychiatric evaluation and pre-sentence report will be prepared ahead of the sentencing hearing on July 14, 2025.

Interestingly, the court case brings up the question of Wallis's mental health during the offending period, as a result of their gender transition[1][2]. Wallis, dressed in a black cardigan and white shirt, made a brief court appearance to confirm their identity and enter their plea.

"My preferred name is Katie, but my legal name is still Jamie," Wallis acknowledged. Wallis arrived late, giving the press and media a head start in entering the courtroom.

Wallis made headlines in 2022 when they came out as transgender, becoming the first UK MP to do so[3]. Later that year, they received a driving ban and fine for fleeing the scene after a car accident.
