Ex-spouse's demise leads to show cancellations for Kelly Clarkson.
Kelly Clarkson Pauses Las Vegas Residency Following Ex-Husband's Passing
American singer Kelly Clarkson has postponed several concerts in Las Vegas due to family reasons, following the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
Brandon Blackstock, a talent manager and the father of Clarkson's two children, River Rose (11) and Remington Alexander (9), passed away from cancer on Thursday. His father's company, Starstruck Entertainment, announced the sad news.
Clarkson, who won the first season of the American reality show "American Idol" in 2002, was scheduled to perform four shows in Las Vegas in August. However, she has now paused her residency shows at Caesars Palace in August 2025 to be fully present for her children amid Blackstock's illness and passing.
The canceled shows were scheduled for August 8-9 and August 15-16, 2025. Ticket holders were given options to either retain their tickets for shows planned in 2026 or request refunds within a 30-day window. Clarkson's residency is still listed for November 2025 dates and six dates in July and August 2026 remain scheduled at Caesars Palace.
Clarkson had taken time off earlier in 2025, with reports linking her absences from her talk show to her ex-husband's illness, although no detailed public disclosure of his condition was provided.
Normally, Clarkson keeps her private life out of the public eye, but she felt the need to be present for her children due to Blackstock's situation. She has spoken out about his illness in the past.
Brandon Blackstock was a talent manager, as per Starstruck Entertainment's statement. He has two other children from a previous marriage. Clarkson and Blackstock separated in 2020 and finalized their divorce in 2022, after seven years of marriage.
Clarkson is expected to return to her role as a coach on The Voice for its 29th season in spring 2026, which signals a likely resumption of her public career activities post-hiatus.

Despite the rescheduled Las Vegas residency shows in August 2025, Kelly Clarkson decided to take a break from her entertainment commitments following the passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The cancellation of several shows, including those on August 8-9 and August 15-16, 2025, allows her to focus on her children during this difficult time, as celebrities often prioritize their families amid personal crises.
