In the six years following her divorce from Jeff Bezos, author and mother of four, MacKenzie Scott, has pockets brimming with change, having dished out an eye-watering $19 billion to over 2,000 organizations, according to a three-year study by the Center for Effective Philanthropy, as reported by "People".
This philanthropic explosion is said to revolutionize the non-profit sector, though it could take decades to fully grasp its impact. The Center for Effective Philanthropy also commends Scott for her distinctive, big-hearted, and unrestricted donations, stating that, after five years, her charitable contributions continue to positively impact the recipient organizations.
Yield Giving: A Generous Endeavor
Last year, Scott made headlines by announcing she'd topple over 640 million dollars to 361 non-profit groups across the nation, cherry-picked from an ocean of 6,000 applicants. On her foundation's website, "Yield Giving", Scott sheds light on the process behind her donations: "Each of these 361 non-profit organizations was esteemed by other organizations and an evaluation committee in the second round for their extraordinary work in advocating for folks with less than a pot to pee in and for those wrestling with the deck stacked against them."
In 2019, Scott also joined the philanthropic "Giving Pledge" bandwagon, a conglomerate of billionaires committed to parting ways with half their riches, including tech titans like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.

After Jeff Bezos signed the papers in 2019, Scott scooped up an estimated $36 billion, propelling her to the 68th spot on the Forbes billionaires list. As for family matters, the (now twice) divorced Bezos and Scott share four children - three lads and a lass. Scott hitched up with a former science teacher a couple of years post-divorce but called it quits in 2023. Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos found love in the arms of former news anchor and media personality Lauren Sánchez, with wedding invitations flying out just last month.
