Ex-Love Island competitor apprehended in a multi-million-pound cocaine trafficking syndicate, valued at £53 million.
In a shocking turn of events, Magdalena Sadlo, the former contestant of the Polish version of Love Island, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for her involvement in the UK's largest-ever drug bust. The operation, codenamed 'Operation Matrix', is estimated to be worth £53 million and involved the conspiracy to supply Class A drugs[1][2].
Sadlo, who described herself as a "spontaneous, self-confident blonde who you can count on" during her stint on Love Island in 2021, was arrested in January 2023 and has since been found guilty of being the financial mastermind behind a Middle East-based cocaine cartel. She used her celebrity status to conceal her involvement in the trafficking network, which reportedly employed sophisticated smuggling methods such as concealing cocaine in frozen chicken shipments[3].
Nine men involved in the same drug operation as Sadlo were sentenced to a total of over 106 years in prison in March. The majority of these men were from the Greater Manchester area, according to the Manchester Evening News. The sentencing of these men marks a significant development in dismantling this major drug ring in the UK.
Interestingly, Sadlo co-founded a luxury yacht rental company in Dubai in January 2023, just months before her arrest. The yacht rental company, according to its website, provides hospitality and VIP experiences, catering to various events such as birthdays, proposals, engagement parties, dinner soirees, and corporate gatherings. Sadlo's LinkedIn page states she worked in sales until earlier this year.
The maximum penalty for this offence is up to seven years in prison, an unlimited fine, or both. With her 14-year sentence, Sadlo will serve a significant portion of her time behind bars for her role in this extensive drug operation.

Celebrities often seek to diversify their careers, with Magdalena Sadlo co-founding a luxury yacht rental company just months prior to her arrest for being the financial mastermind behind a drug trafficking ring. Despite her former role as a contestant on the Polish version of Love Island, Sadlo's entertainment career is overshadowed by her conviction, as she faces a 14-year prison sentence for her involvement in the UK's largest-ever drug bust, a case also involving crime-and-justice and general-news reporting.
